Pour l'Amour du Fil 2017 (4) Inspiration!

For me this was not so much a show to buy things but more one to be inspired.
To be inspired by the people and by the quilts.

The people….. at long last I met face to face with Linda (Collins), for years we had been like ships in the night, just missing each other at quilts shows, but keeping in touch over the www. And it was almost like that again….. until fate intervened, finally face to face! Hugs and laughs by all ðŸ˜Š!!!

Wonderful for Emma and myself to meet Jo Morton (ah, her fabrics!) and Martine Poelman as well.

Polly Minick and Laurie Simpson were there

With a.o. an exhibition of quilts made by Laurie Simpson

There was a talk by Kaffee Fassett

Inspiring as always : Petra Prins’ booth

where business was brisk!

Inspiring colors from a far away place:

and from Amy Butler:

It was a very inspiring show, lots to talk and laugh about with my travel companion on the way home :-) !

(with a small photobomb from a rather stern looking stewardess in the background 😉  )

Hope you enjoyed my blogposts about this quiltshow!

Pour l'Amour du Fil 2017 (3) The Welsh quilts

One of my favorite exhibitions at the Pour l’Amour du Fil show was the ‘Unforgettable’ exhibition with examples of antique Welsh quilts collected by Jen Jones.

I was struck by the geometry and modernism of some of the quilts. Also I had never seen one of these quilts before and was surprised by how thick the material was and therefore how far apart from each other the quilt stitches are. A true eye opener!

Spectacular quilts, don’t you think?

Pour l'Amour du Fil 2017 (2) Les Salons

The quilts! And the quilters!

That is what and who we (click) came to see.

And they were wonderful.

Impossible to show everything, so I made a choice, I hope you enjoy the pictures.

Margaret Mew

Di Ford

Petra Prins

Norma Whaley

And then there was this…. A tribute… of course she will not be forgotten.

I hope you enjoyed this tour of some of the salons at the show.

There was more to see…. which I will share in my next post.

Pour l'Amour du Fil 2017 (1) Nantes

Disappointed. That is what Emma (click) and I were……(at first 😉  )

Some time ago we booked our tickets and hotel for our first visit to the quilt show in Nantes, which would take place April 19 – 22, 2017. We wanted to visit the show on Wednesday April 19 and Thursday 20, so we had arranged to arrive on the Tuesday and leave on the Friday.
And then the times of the show were changed…. Instead op opening Wednesdaymorning the show would now have only an evening opening that day (and an extra day on the Sunday), a lot less time on the show than we had planned for.

When they learned about schedule the ladies from Quiltmania were kind enough to send us inviations to the show for both days, which was kind of them.

and Emma and myself decided to make the best of it by exploring the old center of Nantes and catching up since we had seen eachother last time (which was not all that long ago, see my previous post).

Our disappointment was quickly replaced by cheer because it turned out to be a perfect day, with lots of sunshine, a lovely town, very friendly people and yummy food. Please join us!

One of the highlights of the day… lunch at La Cigale !

For dessert we opted to go to one of the many creperies in town

We encountered many different animals in the streets

Late afternoon, our walk back to the hotel

How about the show and the quilts you ask? More on that soon!
